美國博通公司（Broadcom Corporation)2006年1月10日宣布，正式成為以太網(wǎng)聯(lián)盟（Ethernet Alliance）的創(chuàng)始者會員，推進以太網(wǎng)技術(shù)的不斷成功和擴張。Broadcom將會在該聯(lián)盟中起關(guān)鍵性作用，幫助新興技術(shù)的開發(fā)，縮短新型以太網(wǎng)產(chǎn)品的上市時間。
     除了Broadcom外，該協(xié)會的其它創(chuàng)始者會員還有3Com、ADC、Agere Systems、AMCC、Aquantia、Force10 Networks、Foundry Networks、Intel、Lawrence Berkeley Labs、先鋒、Quake Technologies、Samsung、Sun Microsystems、Tehuti Networks、Tyco Electronics、The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL)和Xilinx。
     與早期聯(lián)盟只支持IEEE 802 Ethernet計劃不同，只要與以太網(wǎng)有關(guān)的技術(shù)存在，新Ethernet Alliance將不斷發(fā)揮作用。其功能包括：加速新興Ethernet市場的認知度和縮短新技術(shù)的市場化時間；定義和開發(fā)新的以太網(wǎng)技術(shù)；培訓Ethernet用戶，幫助他們選擇和實施各種不同的新應(yīng)用。
