Shipments of touch panels for notebook PCs totaled about 4.6 million in the second quarter of 2015 in terms of unit, down 7% from about 4.9 million in the previous quarter. Total shipments in notebook PC-use touch panel category for the first half reached about 9.5 million units, down 6.9% from about 10.2 million in the same period in 2014. Overall sluggishness in the notebook PC market, burdensome rise in inventory levels, and delay in the launch of new central processing unit （CPU） Skylake produced by Intel Corp. were behind the softening in shipments.
In the second quarter of 2015, the notebook PC-use touch panel market in revenue earned $104.86 million, down as much as 23.9% from $137.87 million in the first quarter. The notebook PC-use touch panel market for the first half of 2015 totaled $242.73 million, down 38.1% from $391.87 million in the same period of the previous year. Amid oversupply in touch panels, the entry of new competitors to the market, and lackluster demand for notebook PCs, the revenue continues to decline. The average selling price （ASP） fell 38.5% over a year from $37.14 in the second quarter of 2014 to $22.84 in the same period this year, also down 18.2% from $27.91 in the first quarter of 2015.
